The popular duo of Alan Greenleaf and Jonathan (The Dr.) Caplan will be the featured performers at the Friday, October 17, concert of the Catamount Coffeehouse in the Cabaret Room. Robert Resnik once said that Alan Greenleaf is "the quintessential Vermont singer-songwriter". His original songs are inspired by his life on his farm and the people and countryside around him. His blues-folk-rock n' roll influenced North Country sound covers a range of styles. His words are thoughtful, humorous, poignant and, on occasion, hopeful. He gets you laughing one minute and crying the next. With his new songs, he seems to have discovered an untapped capacity. He is funnier, more forgiving... but never more clear-eyed. His continued commentaries on the human condition remain unvarnished but they are sweeter. His insight into the workings of the rural heart seem to grow with time. Pianist Jonathan "The Doctor" Kaplan adds depth, contrast and nuance to every song. On keyboard, Dr. Kaplan unveils the backdrop to all of Greenleaf's stories, orchestrating the rich, vivid, changing, diverse, musical landscapes on which all of their songs play-out, unfold and take hold. Alan and The Doctor together are a local natural wonder, not to mention two of the founding fathers of the regions deepening local music scene.
