KCP Presents is proud to announce this never-before seen collaboration by Grammy Award-winning legend Mavis Staples teaming up with multi-platinum recording artist Joan Osborne for their national tour, "Solid Soul".
Six decades. That’s a long time for an individual to sustain a positive and substantial impact on any industry, let alone the rapidly changing music industry. Yet from her early days with the iconic Staple Singers, when she was on top of the charts with songs like the 1972 #1 hit "I’ll Take You There", to her recent albums with Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy, Mavis Staples has been a leader whose music has influenced the gospel, folk, blues, funk, rock, and soul genres.
Musicians streamed to Staples’ 75th birthday celebration last fall to perform tributes to this woman who influenced them so greatly. Performers included Taj Mahal, Widespread Panic, Patty Griffin, Keb Mo, Emmylou Harris, Michael McDonald, and Grace Potter, to name a few. The event was filmed, and became the HBO documentary Mavis!
