Ski & Snowshoe in the Woods: Forestry Tour w/ Vermont Woodlands Association

February 17, 2018  |   10:00 AM - 1:00 PM

  Ski/snowshoe rentals available: $10/$5.

Join the Northwoods and the Vermont Woodlands Association for a guided ski and snowshoe tour through the Spitzer Demonstration Forest at NorthWoods. On this tour, we’ll visit two recent timber harvests that were adapted to create a more resilient forest in a changing climate, while also providing valuable bird and wildlife habitat.

Along the way
you’ll have a chance to enjoy a variety of forest types and see varying management strategies, past and present. The tour will be approximately 2-3 miles of ungroomed, rolling terrain with possible off-trail exploring in the demonstration areas. This will be most enjoyable for experienced off-piste skiers with wide (60mm+), metal-edged cross country skis. Plan to be outside, dressed for the weather, and ready for any snow conditions that Mother Nature delivers!

Hot beverages and snacks provided, as well as a chili with cornbread. If you have any dietary restrictions, let us know or pack your own thermos and lunch.

Pre-registration required; please contact Silvia at 802-747- 7900 or info@vermontwoodlands.org, or Sam at 802-723- 6551 ext. 302 or
sam@northwoodscenter.org.
