Fee: $10/person. NorthWoods teams up with Audubon Vermont, the Vermont Land Trust, and the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to demonstrate forestry that improves habitat for forest birds and other wildlife while also enhancing timber quality. We’ll visit the site during the timber harvest phase of the project to see forestry methods used, harvest layout and marking, and the process of timber extraction using a cut-to-length harvester and forwarder. Later in the year, a follow-up workshop will demonstrate the growth response and initial changes in bird use. Come prepared to snowshoe 1/2 mile on skid trails. Limited snowshoes available. Snacks will be provided.
