Journey Into Courage

Bess O'Brien Documentary Film Series.  Journey into Courage celebrates the spirit of six Vermont women survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse. This documentary explores the risks taken and healing process experienced by women who create a play and take their stories on the road. Journey reveals the pain of domestic abuse, but also shows women who empower themselves and their communities through artisitc and political expression.

Open House at St. Johnsbury Country Club

The St. J Country Club Open House is for those non-members golfers who may have an interest in joining the club. The Open House will be on April 28th and April 29th. Tee Times will start at 1:00 PM. Tee Times need to be made with the St. J CC Pro Shop. There will be Golf Marshall on the course to assist the players around our beautiful golf course. Beer, wine and burgers will be served at a nominal cost “at the turn”, between holes 9 and 10. A daily raffle will be held for a 10 play certificate at St. JCC. And also there will be a raffle for one annual St. JCC membership. Raffle tickets for the 10 play will be $5.00 each and $10.00 each for the St. JCC membership. The raffle tickets will be sold by the St. JCC Women Club members.

Trees for Streams

The Burke Conservation Commission (BCC) will be planting a streamside buffer along the East Branch of the Passumpsic River on Sat April 28th. The work will be done on the property of 3 landowners who have given permission for this project. We have enlisted volunteers from the community and area schools to participate.
Anyone interested in joining us can meet at the Darling Memorial Park playground (on RT 114 north of the village) at 9AM.

This is a joint project of the BCC and the Caledonia County Natural Resources Conservation District funded by a grant from the VT Watershed Grants which is funded by the Vermont Conservation license plates.
