BURKE AREA EVENTS

Empty Bowls 2012





Make the Connection!
Come pick out a bowl, fill it with food, and enjoy a meal with members of the community and live music. The bowl is yours to keep! Tickets for the event are $10. All proceeds help St. J. ALFA raise money for local-food projects this year.

First seating: 5:00 - 6:30 p.m.
Second seating: 7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Seating is limited! To purchase tickets, look for one of our ticket sales events on 4/28 and 5/12, or call Melissa Bridges at the St. J. Food Co-op at 748-9498.

Dozens of local farmers and restaurants have come together to provide food for the event. Select artisan-crafted bowls will be featured in a mini-exhibit at Catamount Arts and sold via silent auction as well.

Mother's Day Fun Run

Traversing the ruggedly beautiful countryside at the base of Burke Mountain in East Burke, Vermont, the course offers unsurpassed views of Willoughby Gap, Burke Mountain and the Northeast Kingdom's wide variety of flora and fauna. The 5k and 10k races will be run simultaneously, primarily over backroads. Walkers are welcome. There will also be a Kids' 1/2 Mile Fun Run prior to the main race.

Northeast Kingdom Farm to Yarn Tour Weekend





A FREE two day event! Visit NEK fiber producing farms and learn about where local fiber originates and how the animals are lovingly raised and cared for. Farm activities include tours, meeting the critters, knitting and spinning demos and more. Visit one or several farms as you choose.Refreshments and additional demonstrations will be available at Mountain Fiber Folk in Montgomery on Saturday and Sunday.

2 Days of Women's Bike Events





The Village Sport Shop and Liv/Giant will be hosting 2 days of events encouraging and empowering women in the sport of biking! On SUNDAY, MAY 20th, Lauren from Giant Bicycles will lead a BASIC BIKE SKILLS CLINIC at the log yard parking area in East Burke. Following the skills clinic there will be a FREE BIKE DEMO and group rides. The demo will be set up from 12:00 - 4:00. On MONDAY, MAY 21st at The Village Sport Shop there will be a basic bike maintenance and bike life workshop where you will learn about tire pressure, how to fix a flat tire and lube a chain, bike safety check, proper bike fit, pre- and post ride stretches, ride nutrition, and how to dress comfortably for riding.
