Red Cross Blood Drive
10:00 AM - 3:00 PM

On Saturday, September 16 we at Burke Mountain will roll up our sleeves and help save lives, proudly partnering with the American Red Cross for our annual Blood Drive. Each pint of blood we collect can help save up to three lives and will touch the lives of so many more. What a great way to pay it forward and make an impact on people in our community and across the country.

We are planning some great activities and raffle giveaways for everyone who donates blood that day, including a grand prize overnight stay at the new Burke Mountain Hotel and Conference Center (non-holiday)! Let’s show our community and the patients in need of blood just how much we can do. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Kathleen Luce (Kathleen.Luce@redcross.org) about joining the team.

It’s not every day that we do something that has such a lifesaving impact. We’ll be looking forward to seeing you at the blood drive.

The Burke Mountain Club invites you to An Evening of Song With Dana & Sue Robinson
6:30 PM

Dana and Susan Robinson are two guitar-playing, banjo-frailing, fiddle-sawing, and harmony-singing interpreters of the American experience. Their unique blend of contemporary songwriting and traditional Appalachian music bring to their performances a deep under-standing of America’s musical heritage.
The genius of a Dana and Susan Robinson performance lies in their ability to capture the imagination of their audience, evoking a transformative experience that touches on the deepest humanity. They can make the audience howl with laughter or hush with poignant reflection as they take them on a journey across America and convey the mystery and wonder of the places they visit.

Tour de Kingdom Fall Foliage Tour

"Most beautiful ride of my life," said one rider after Friday's Ride Around the Lake. Five days of fully supported rides on both sides of the border with brilliant foliage to add to the wonder of the ride. Can't be any question that our cycling territory of Orleans County, northern Essex, and the Eastern Townships of Quebec is The Place Where Fall Foliage Starts. And when the weather is right, there's just no better time to ride.

Vision: A Photography Workshop (Adults and high school students)
8:00 AM

Class fee: Class fee: $80 (10% discount for Catamount Arts members and high school students).

Instructor: Steven Edson

This one day workshop helps new and experienced photographers develop their unique vision. We will use St. Johnsbury as our backdrop and explore the textures, architecture, people and landscape to become better storytellers. Together, we will go out in the morning and explore parts of St. Johnsbury and discuss what we are seeing and figure out different ways of capturing it. At lunch, we will look at the different images everyone shot and discuss why they are successful or not. In the afternoon we will take our new sense of knowledge and go out again and photograph a different part of St. Johnsbury and return to discuss those images as well.

This is not a technical class, although we will cover basics and make sure that you are using your camera correctly to advance your photographic skills.

Steven Edson is an award winning fine art photographer based in Boston, MA. He has taught college degree courses in photography as well as continues to have a successful commercial photography career. He has a wealth of aesthetic and technical knowledge and is pleased to share it to benefit individuals trying to move forward with their own vision.

The Phillipine Madrigal Singers

 Advance Tickets: $35, $25, $15
At the door: $40, $30, and $20

Recognized by the UNESCO as Artists for Peace for “putting their fame and influence to promote cultural diversity, intercultural dialogue and a culture of peace,” the University of the Philippines Madrigal Singers is one of the most awarded choral groups in the world, having consistently won all top prizes in major choral competitions, including the Grand Prix in the recently concluded 64th Concurso Internazionale di Guido d’ Arezzo last August 2016 in Arezzo, Italy. They hold the distinction of being the first choir in the world to win the prestigious European Grand Prix for Choral Singing twice (1997 and 2007).

The group’s virtuosity across a vast repertoire range, its continuing promotion of Filipino choral works and the rousing and deeply emotional impact that each performance has on all audiences the world over as they sing in the distinctive set-up of sitting in a semi-circle without a conductor have established their reputation as a pioneering force in choral music and an inspirational role model for other choirs.

Today, Professor Veneracion’s designated successor Mark Anthony Carpio continues with the mission not just of leading the country’s premier choir, but also to carry on the ongoing mission of developing choirs, conductors and singers all over the world.

Proceeds benefit the St. Johnsbury and Danville youth activities programs.

Lyndon Farmers' Market
3:00 PM - 6:00 PM

The Lyndon Farmers’ Market has been operating for nearly ten years, and has grown to provide one of the most enjoyable farmers market experiences in the Northeast Kingdom. Over 15 vendors meet every Friday afternoon at beautiful Bandstand Park from May through October. We sell locally grown and made Vermont products, including fresh vegetables and fruits, quality meats, eggs, artisan breads, baked goods, ethnic foods, herbs, plants, flowers, arts and crafts, and maple syrup. Bandstand Park is filled with large shade trees, a fountain, and plenty of room for kids to run and play while parents stroll from tasty cinnamon buns to crisp lettuce and brightly colored carrots. We offer live music every week performed by local musicians. Come and visit us as soon and as often as you can!
