BURKE AREA EVENTS

 Every Monday night we will be leading group rides to explore some of the most beautiful back roads in the Northeast Kingdom. Rides will start and end at our downtown Lyndonville shop and will last for about an hour and a half at a moderate pace.

This is a great opportunity if you're curious about this genre of cycling or if you're just looking to try out the new Specialized Sequoia or Diverge. Wilderness First Aid & SOLO CPR Certification





Advance registration required.  $175 per person - tuition only.

Kingdom Adventures Mountain Guides is proud to serve as the sponsor and instructional provider of SOLO wilderness medicine courses in Northern Vermont. The two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is SOLO's most popular creating a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. Initially offered in 1975, this course was the first of its kind in the United States, and it is the curriculum upon which all other backcountry medicine courses are based. SOLO CPR certification is included as a part of all WFA courses. This is a great course for mountain bikers, hikers, climbers, backpackers, backcountry skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts who venture out for day and weekend trips. The WFA may be used to recertify your SOLO WFR. Please email us for additional course registration materials.

What is a "whip?": A whip is a maneuver performed on a bike, usually during supercross or motocross racing, in which the rider brings the rear of the bike abruptly around to either side. This is performed while the machine is airborne off a jump. In very extreme whips, the rear of the bike will end up perpendicular to the direction of travel, in addition to the bike being laid flat. The purpose of the whip is primarily threefold: To show off, to alter the trajectory of the bike in flight, and to scrub speed over jumps..

CircumBurke Mountain Bike & Trail Run Challenge





 

Conservation Collaboratives and Kingdom Trails first organized the CircumBurke in 2009 to promote the idea of a bikeable route around Burke Mountain through Victory and to remember Dave Blumenthal, a Vermont adventure biker and trail advocate, who died in Colorado while competing in the Tour Divide.

 

The event has increased in popularity each year, as we add more quality singletrack to the route, making it more challenging yet more fun. Trail runners and bikers alike have embraced the event, because it is a great opportunity to race through a wild corner of the northeast kingdom primarily on singletrack. In 2014, 2015 and 2016, the CircumBurke was voted “Best Bicycle Race in Vermont” by Vermont Sports readers.

 

Very few sections of dirt road or cart trail are used on the course. The trail runners and two lap “CircumBerzerk” bikers begin the challenge at 8:00 AM, in order to have completed most of the fast singletrack sections in Victory before the main wave of bikers comes through after a 10 AM start.

“A Walk in the Dark” Haunted Trail
7:00 PM





$10 per person.  A Special Olympics Caledonia Chapter Fundraiser. All proceeds go to the Caledonia Chapter of Vermont Special Olympics. Our Special Olympic athletes will participate in this fundraiser, helping with trail maintenance, concession and retail sales, and clean up.

 

The event will be held on four nights in October on the 26, 27, 28, and 31. The trail is approximately .3 of a mile long through several acres of wooded property located on privately owned land on Route 5 in Lyndonville (Laramy Products). The winding path includes gentle elevations and depressions and will wind patrons through the the woods where an assortment of scary surprises and sounds await. Parking will be in an adjacent field and guests are to be carried to a ticket area in a hay wagon. Concessions and tee shirts will be available. The actual trail walk should take 30-40 minutes and finish back at the parking area.
