Making an Axe Handle

Cost: $30. Expert wood workers of long-ago insisted that an axe was useless if they didn’t hang it (shape and attach the handle) just as they wanted it. Most of us nowadays are not that discerning, but anyone can feel the pride and joy of using a tool handle that they’ve created from scratch. In this workshop, you’ll learn to do just that, ending the day with your own custom tool handle! No experience required; native white ash handle stock provided. Please bring a bag lunch, and a tool head if you have one (axe, hammer or maul- if not, you’ll make a generic handle and we’ll discuss how to choose a quality tool head).

Bob Berky’s A Fool’s Feast
4:30 PM

Tickets: $25, $18. Students - $10. (All phone and internet orders will have a $3 per ticket fee added)

World-acclaimed clown Bob Berky has been known to speak through a kazoo and mime a hell-bent ride on a motorcycle. He may amble out on the stage wearing camouflage and goggles to spy on imaginary birds or get tangled up in pushed buttons, pulled switches, and mis-connected wires in a loopy battle of man vs machine. Berky’s antics are infectious, impertinent – and lots of fun. He has coached Michelle Pfeiffer and Gregory Hines—and performed at major theatres in London, Paris, Hong Kong, Edinburgh, Buenos Aires, and Montreal—and at Lincoln Center, The Brooklyn Academy of Music, the Kennedy Center, and The Smithsonian.

“Irresistible…. Mr. Berky combines the ingenuousness of Jacques Tati with the obsessiveness of John Cleese.” – NY Times

"The mark of a truly great clown is his ability to be both loved and laughed at. Bob Berky displayed that ability to perfection.” - The Washington Post
