It was outdoorsman, John Hibshman’s aim in 1978 to create a store that offered a huge selection of sporting goods, and to staff it with employees having hands-on knowledge of the equipment they sold. To this day the store motto is, “We are there after the sale.” And, they take it seriously. “We would like our customers to want to come back, not have to come back.”

The Village Sport Shop, now co-owned by John’s son and daughter, Chris and Carrie, continues the tradition of employing an expert, highly trained staff who are passionate about the outdoors and enjoying it to its fullest. Helping customers find the correct equipment is their focus. New renovations have brought the store a crisp fresh feel and their knowledgeable, friendly staff will certainly make you want to stay.
