BURKE AREA EVENTS

Summertime concerts in the park, NEMBAFest Mountain Bike Festival, The Annual Burke Fall Festival, WinterBike.... events of all sorts happen in and around Burke.  Moonlit snowshoe treks, live music performances, seasonal parades, craft fairs, Open Studios weekend, snowmobile drag races...it's all here!   To keep up to date on local happenings and special deals, sign up for the monthly Burke enewsletter.

Laurent Pelly’s storybook staging of Massenet’s Cendrillon is presented with an all-new English translation in an abridged 90-minute adaptation, with mezzo-soprano Isabel Leonard as its rags-to-riches princess. Maestro Emmanuel Villaume leads a delightful cast, which includes mezzo-soprano Emily D’Angelo as Cinderella’s Prince Charming, soprano Jessica Pratt as her Fairy Godmother, and mezzo-soprano Stephanie Blythe and bass-baritone Laurent Naouri as her feuding guardians.

WARREN MILLER'S 72ND FILM: WINTER STARTS NOW

 This season, the snow will feel a little deeper, the jumps a little higher and the views from the top will be just a bit more inspiring. Head to Sugarloaf where we’ll meet the minds behind the manufacturing of Winterstick Snowboards, and meet Phil & Amy Taisey, who craft Amalgam Skis out of their garage. Follow Vermont native Jim Ryan around Sun Valley with some new friends.

 

Athletes include Marcus Caston, Amie Engerbretson, JT Holmes and more as well as rising stars Madison Ostergren and Noah Elliott. Follow along on a disabled ski descent of Denali with Vasu Sojitra and Pete McAfee.

FREE entry for teams of up to 4 who will test their knowledge on a range of topics from local history to geography to music and more while enjoying drink specials from Sierra Nevada and competing for prizes.

Participants will be entered into a monthly grand prize!

SOLO Wilderness First Aid & CPR





 The two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is SOLO's most popular creating a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. Initially offered in 1975, this course was the first of its kind in the United States, and it is the curriculum upon which all other backcountry medicine courses are based. SOLO CPR certification is included as a part of all WFA courses. This is a great course for mountain bikers, hikers, climbers, backpackers, backcountry skiers and other outdoor enthusiasts who venture out for day and weekend trips. Only current SOLO WFR graduates may use the SOLO WFA to recertify a current WFR certification.

 

Advance registration required.  $195 per person - tuition only.

Catamount Arts Bluegrass Night – Beg, Steal Or Borrow
7:00 PM





  Catamount Arts Bluegrass Night is back! The new series, hosted by the popular father-daughter duo Bob & Sarah Amos, will feature the best bluegrass and acoustic music acts in Vermont, and will be held in the new Catamount Arts ArtPort venue at the Green Mountain Mall in St. Johnsbury Center. As always, admission will be free, but donations during the show will be encouraged and gratefully received. On Saturday January 22 Bluegrass Night will feature the popular bluegrass band BEG STEAL OR BORROW, as well as the wonderful KOWAL FAMILY BAND. Beg, Steal or Borrow has been winning band contests and appearing at festivals throughout New England, while the Kowal Family Band features the terrifically talented teenage siblings, Ted, Maedi, Finn and Max Kowal. This will be a great way to enjoy the post holiday season with some great Vermont Bluegrass music. As with all Catamount Arts events, your safety is our primary concern. Masks will be required, as well as valid ID, proof of vaccination or a recent negative covid test.

Shrimp Tunes at Bear Den Apres Ski

 Aged, yes...mellowed, I don't think so! Shrimp has maintained an enthusiasm for music of all kinds for over half a century! This multi instrumentalist performs regularly in the Northeast USA. Give a listen to his tunes, and come out for a show soon! One-man band Shrimp rocks the Bear Den Après Scene the third Saturday of every month from 3pm to 6pm.
