BURKE AREA EVENTS

Newark Street Scurry 5K Run/Walk

 Come scurry down the roads and trails with us and enjoy a morning full of fall wellness fun while also supporting our school! The 5K run/walk will be followed by a Wellness Festival which will include recovery yoga, SHINE Dance Fitness Demo, local farm veggies for sale, food trucks, fire trucks, and more!

 

This event was organized by The Friends of Newark Street School: a group of caregivers, staff, and community members working to support the goals of Newark Street School and foster relationships between the school and members of the communities that it serves.

Mountain Bike Tour





 Join Georgia Gould (mountain bike Olympic bronze medalist) and Sara Bresnick (former professional cyclist/owner of Pedal Power Training Solutions) for three days of riding on the world -famous Kingdom Trails. Both women live on the trails and are excited to guide you!

Show up ready to ride, and we will take care of the rest. You will be staying in a spectacular private house on historic Darling Hill with expansive views and trails right outside the door. Our professional chef will be preparing all meals on site using the fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Each day we will explore a different sector of the trail system, and with over 100 miles of trails, there will be plenty to choose from. Whether you are looking to pack in miles or take things at a more leisurely pace, there will be great options for you. After your rides, enjoy down time, or join us for optional activities such as yoga, beer tasting and a cooking class.

The Kingdom Challenge





All proceeds support Good Shepherd Catholic School

 

A challenging point to point half marathon with typical Vermont terrain including hills, four covered bridges and scenic Vermont back roads.

​

The 5K is a fun, in-town race over paved roads.

 

5K Course Description:

The 5K starts and finishes at the St. Johnsbury School. The entire course is paved and is mostly flat with an uphill climb to the finish. The course runs through the Four Seasons neighborhood before returning to the school.

 

Half Marathon Course Description:

This is a challenging point to point course that starts at the Lyndonville Town Offices and finishes at the St. Johnsbury School. There is almost 3,000' of elevation change (1,440' up and 1,590' down) with several long climbs. 60% of the course is on dirt roads.

The Gloaming





Come join the Burke Community for two nights of spooky fun in East Burke Village!

 

Friday from 3-5pm there will be pumpkin carving on the green at the East Burke Library.  Pumpkin carving kits will be provided by Greer's Auto and East Burke Market will have a free pumpkin for the first 35 participants.  

 

Free glo-sticks for kids will be given out at the Pumpkin Carving or you can pick them up at East Burke Market.

 

Saturday from 4-7pm will be the main event!  The carved pumpkins will be displayed along a Haunted Trail going from behind The Orange Rind to the Kingdom Trails pump track and East Burke School.  Spooky and non-spooky trails will be offered.  East Burke School will have a trick or treating station set up at the end of the trail as well as some freshly made, hot mulled cider.

 

Cafe Lotti will be open with fun activities like pumpkin shot-put!

 

Lots of cars will be decked out for Trunk or Treat fun over at the East Burke Sports/Sport Thoma parking lot.  If you want to sign up to bring your car and set up for Trunk or Treat, email burkechamber@burkechamber.com or stop by East Burke Market and talk to Kellie.

 

The Burke Mountain Club will have a fairy garden house set up inside or on the lawn depending on the weather.

 

Village homes and businesses will also be welcoming trick or treaters.  Look for the black and orange balloons to know where kids are welcome and bowls are filled with candy!   

 

Following your tricks & treats and haunted trail adventures, head to The Village Inn for hot apple cider (plus some adult bevs at The Sloshie Shed) and an outdoor movie. The Hocus Pocus movie will begin at 6pm. 

 

SATURDAY NIGHT PARKING WILL BE AT MIKE'S TIKI BAR LOT ON BELDEN HILL RD.
