BURKE AREA EVENTS

A Charlie Brown Christmas
7:00 PM





   On Saturday, December 4 at 7:00 pm,. the Heather Pierson jazz trio presents its interpretations of the work of the late great jazz pianist and composer Vince Guaraldi at Lyndon’s York Street Meeting House.

Based in New Hampshire's Mount Washington Valley, Heather Pierson is a pianist, singer/ songwriter, and performer known for her bell tone vocals and equal parts New Orleans Oscar-Brubeck jazz piano leanings. Her jazz trio, with Shawn Nadeau on bass and Craig Bryan on drums, performs a rich variety of Heather's originals, jazz and blues standards, and unique re-workings of familiar American music. They are best known for their annual December offering, in which they share their joyful interpretation of Vince Guaraldi’s iconic ‘Charlie Brown Christmas’ soundtrack plus other Guaraldi compositions and holiday favorites.

Supported in part by a grant from the Vermont Arts Council & the National Endowment for the Arts.

Admission: $15 adults; under 13 free

This 8-day course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as backcountry trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers. SOLO CPR certification included.

 

Kingdom Adventures Mountain Guides is proud to serve as the sponsor and instructional provider of SOLO wilderness medicine courses in Northern Vermont. The two-day Wilderness First Aid (WFA) course is SOLO's most popular creating a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. Initially offered in 1975, this course was the first of its kind in the United States, and it is the curriculum upon which all other backcountry medicine courses are based.

Annual Catamount Benefit Auction

You’re invited to the biggest party of the year, Catamount’s first ever Auction for the Arts Gala! On Saturday, December 11th, we’ll be celebrating the closing of the online auction with food, drink, music, and an exclusive pool of items only available for bidding at the Gala!

Check in and cocktail hour will begin at 5:30 pm, and will be followed by an intimate holiday concert featuring Kat Wright and Brett Hughes at 7 pm before the live auction featuring Emcee Jami Polli begins at 8pm. Admission ticket includes all the beverages, food (provided by Cafe Sweet Basil and Catering Co.), and entertainment for a fabulous evening.

The Met’s first-ever Live in HD transmission—the abridged, English-language version of Mozart’s The Magic Flute—returns to cinemas this holiday season. Tony Award–winner Julie Taymor conjures a spellbinding staging, replete with a kaleidoscope of color and parades of puppetry in this delightful production from 2006, featuring a stellar cast of Met stars including tenor Matthew Polenzani, baritone Nathan Gunn, and bass René Pape.

Holiday Party & Tree Lighting in the Village!

 Join us on the green in East Burke Village as we gather to light up the display of Christmas Trees and enjoy a holiday party (outside). Each tree was 'adopted' and decorated by a local school or business. The Burke Chamber will choose five winning trees. The winners will each get a check for $100 made out to a charity of their choice.

 

The Newark Balkan Chorus will be performing.  


The event will be outside so please dress accordingly. Snacks and cider will be available. The event is free.

4th Annual Light Up The Night Holiday Parade

 We are still awaiting approval but we hope the 4th Annual Light Up The Night Holiday Parade will be the best ever! We have all been beat down by covid and hope to see our community smile once again!
Beginning @ Kennametal again @ 6pm to Depot street to Center St & ending at Bandstand Park. Minimum $20 donation per entry. Last year we hit nearly $1,000 to donate!
